Editorial Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

Eco Garden Gains is committed to publishing gardening content that is useful, understandable, and worthy of reader trust. This Editorial Policy explains how we choose topics, research articles, review claims, use sources, handle commercial relationships, and correct mistakes.

Our Editorial Principles

We aim to make every article practical rather than theoretical. Readers should be able to understand what to do, why it matters, and how to adjust the advice to their own garden.

Our core principles are:

  • Accuracy: factual claims should be supported by reliable information or clearly described practical experience.
  • Clarity: we use plain language and explain technical terms when they are necessary.
  • Usefulness: articles should solve a real gardening problem or answer a clear reader question.
  • Transparency: advertising, affiliate relationships, and sponsored material should not be disguised as independent editorial content.
  • Updates: content may be revised when guidance, sources, product information, or site standards change.

How We Choose Topics

Topics are selected based on common gardening questions, seasonal needs, practical home-growing problems, reader usefulness, and gaps in our existing coverage. We avoid publishing multiple articles that repeat the same advice without a meaningful new angle.

Research and Sources

When an article contains factual or technical guidance, we prefer recognized sources such as government agencies, university extension programs, established horticultural organizations, scientific publications, respected botanical institutions, and official manufacturer instructions when product-specific information is relevant.

We aim to link important authority names directly to their official or reliable sources so readers can review the underlying guidance for themselves.

Practical Gardening Advice

Gardening results vary by climate, soil, cultivar, weather, and growing method. We try to make this clear instead of presenting one schedule or technique as universal.

Where useful, articles include step-by-step instructions, examples, checklists, troubleshooting sections, comparisons, and realistic scenarios. We distinguish between broad horticultural principles and recommendations that must be adapted to local conditions.

AI-Assisted Work

AI tools may assist with research organization, drafting, editing, structure, or quality checks. AI assistance does not replace editorial review. Content is reviewed for relevance, clarity, consistency, duplicated ideas, unsupported claims, and usefulness before publication.

We do not intentionally publish unreviewed automated text as finished editorial content.

Product Mentions and Reviews

Products, brands, or businesses are mentioned only when they add useful context. A commercial relationship should not guarantee positive coverage. Where affiliate links are used, the relationship is disclosed in accordance with our Affiliate Disclosure.

Advertising Independence

Advertising helps support the operation of Eco Garden Gains, but advertisers do not control our gardening conclusions, article topics, or corrections. Sponsored content, if accepted, should be clearly identified. More information is available in our Advertising & Monetization Policy.

Corrections

If we discover a meaningful factual error, misleading statement, broken recommendation, or outdated claim, we aim to review and correct it. Readers can report possible errors through our Contact page.

Our separate Corrections Policy explains how correction requests are handled.

Updates and Content Maintenance

Articles may be updated to improve clarity, replace outdated sources, repair links, reflect changed product information, add safety context, or incorporate more useful guidance. Minor edits may be made without a formal notice. Material changes may be noted where context makes that useful.

Conflicts of Interest

Writers and editors should avoid presenting undisclosed personal, financial, or commercial interests as independent recommendations. If a relationship could reasonably affect how a reader interprets a recommendation, we aim to disclose it.

Reader Feedback

Reader feedback can help identify confusing explanations, outdated information, and missing context. Constructive corrections are reviewed on their merits rather than accepted or rejected based on whether they are favorable to Eco Garden Gains.

Our Standard

Our goal is not to make gardening sound perfect or effortless. It is to give readers clear, realistic information they can use in real gardens. When evidence is limited, conditions vary, or a recommendation depends on local circumstances, we aim to say so.
